Cannabis and Hemp Champion Kris Krane
Cannabis and Hemp Champion Kris Krane is a giant in the mission to end cannabis / hemp prohibition. He is the president of 4Front Ventures in addition to being the Managing Partner of 4Front Advisors.
“I never set out to be a marijuana entrepreneur… but today I embrace the moniker. I’m proud of the role I am playing in building a new industry. One that can serve as a guiding light for future industries to come, and one that plays a critical role in defeating prohibition once and for all.” Kris Krane
Krane, co-founder of the firm 4Front Ventures amd a journalist to Forbes is blending the arts of activism and journalism with the science of business in a masterful way. The technique used takes elements of finance, real estate, agriculture, extraction technology (oils)… to provide high quality products at affordable prices. While President Trump talks about the rapid decline in minority unemployment numbers, common sense says the 120,000 jobs delivered by the industry, plus ancillary service jobs, has a lot more to do with lowering unemployment than Trump’s racist policies that keep privilege in place.
Krane stands as testimony that this is a great time to be an activist and business person. The results of the health, financial, environmental and entertainment benefits are making a powerful difference on many fronts. Though there are still people serving long prison sentences for interacting with a plant, ‘the times they are a changing,’ though not fast enough. However, it is imperative that we do the best we can with whatever we have to work with. Krane is doing just that!
Krane’s bio says “Kris founded 4Front Advisors in 2011. Prior to that, he served as director of client services for CannBe, a pioneer in developing best practices within the medical cannabis industry. Kris has dedicated his career to reforming the nation’s misguided drug policies, having served as associate director of NORML from 2000 to 2005 and executive director of Students for Sensible Drug Policy from 2006 to 2009. He currently serves on the National Cannabis Industry Association board of directors.” He was also recently appointed to the Appointed To New Jersey Cannabis Industry Association Board Of Trustees.
One of the many things we love about Kris is the way he is standing up for the activists who have stood for decades, as he has, to end this evil drug war. From his Forbes article The Cannabis Industry Needs To Support Advocacy. Here’s Why
“This industry didn’t expand because of a memo issued by a deputy attorney general, or because some governments simply decided they wanted to benefit from the tax revenue that legal cannabis could bring their states. It happened because of the decades of work by marijuana reform activists and policy organizations, without whose efforts today’s businesses could not exist.
Today’s cannabis businesses, whether they realize it or not, are part of a long-standing movement to end cannabis prohibition, a movement that I am proud to have played a small role in advancing earlier in my career. With the industry under renewed attack from drug warriors in Washington, D.C., it is imperative that today’s cannabis business leaders, many who have only known the “good times” under the protection of the Cole Memo, heed the lessons taught by the early pioneers of the industry and recognize their essential role in the broader reform movement. Their very existence as businesses depends on it.”
On his 4Front Ventures site he says “It is true that the cannabis industry has seen explosive growth over the past six years, and that many businesspeople have entered this industry hoping to take advantage of the new “green rush.” But before there was an industry to build, there were legions of people working mostly for little, if any, pay to end cannabis prohibition. Not because they had designs on becoming rich when it became legalized, but because they believed in their hearts that it was the right thing to do. This is the world I came from.”
Stay tuned for the next great step Krane makes. As much integrity and common sense as he has, don’t be surprised if he becomes POTUS one day. A hemp economy is based on a trillion dollar crop that can kick our economy in gear, help heal our bodies, and encourage us to let the good times roll (no pun intended).
We are looking forward to Kris sitting down with the Time4Hemp Global Broadcasting Network’s founder and on air talent Casper Leitch to discuss ‘now that we’ve got weed what are we doing with it?’ Light, learn, then discuss. Implementation will flow.
